Your Dexter coverage through Unum includes worldwide emergency travel assistance, provided by Assist America. It is there for you and your family whenever you travel 100 miles or more from home for less than 90 days — to another country or just another city, for business or pleasure.
Save the number in your phone before you go. Call Assist America first — services you arrange on your own cannot be reimbursed.

Good to know
- Assist America pays for the services it arranges — with no caps or charges to you or Dexter.
- Medical bills are separate. Prescriptions and physician, lab or facility fees are paid by you or your health insurance.
- Hospital admission abroad may require proof of your medical insurance or an advance of funds to the foreign facility. You must repay any hospital admission expenses to Assist America within 45 days.
- This is not medical insurance. Services end when your Unum coverage ends.
Travel assistance FAQs
Is my family covered?
Yes. Your spouse and dependent children up to age 19 — or the age set by your medical plan — are covered. A spouse or child traveling on business for their own employer is not covered on that trip.
Which countries can I travel to?
Anywhere. Assist America’s services have no geographic exclusions.
Are pre-existing conditions excluded?
No. Whether your emergency comes from a new or pre-existing condition, Assist America will help you find qualified medical care.
What about sports injuries?
Covered. Whether the injury comes from recreational or extreme sports, Assist America will support your medical needs.
