Dexter provides basic life coverage at no cost to you, and you can buy more for yourself and your family.
Basic life and AD&D is automatic — you do not need to enroll and you do not pay for it. Voluntary coverage is optional, purchased at discounted group rates through payroll deduction on a post-tax basis.
Basic life and AD&D, Dexter-paid
Coverage exceeding $50,000 is considered imputed income. Any amount over $50,000 must be included as income and is subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes, which may be reflected in your paycheck.

Voluntary life and AD&D
You must cover yourself to purchase voluntary life for your spouse or child(ren).

What is Evidence of Insurability?
Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is the process of providing health information to qualify for certain coverage. If you elect voluntary life and AD&D above the guaranteed issue limit, or after the guaranteed issue period, you will need to submit a health questionnaire — and in some cases a physical exam. The carrier reviews it and notifies you of the decision directly.
Name Your Beneficiary
The person you name as your beneficiary receives your coverage amount if you pass away. Review or update your beneficiary designation at any time in ADP. It takes a few minutes and it is the single most important thing you can do with this benefit.
